More and more people are continuing to embrace cryptocurrencies.

In the sports world, fans can now place bets, including Panthers odds using their favourite crypto. Some players choose to get their salaries in crypto. These are capitalising on the regular season returns and growing profitability of cryptos like Bitcoin.

Let's take a look at a list of NFL players that are getting their salaries in crypto.

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers revealed his partnership with Cash App on a payment service on Twitter to start receiving part of his salary in Bitcoin. The move would see Rodgers getting part of his salary to his account on the Cash App for use to purchase Bitcoin. He also revealed plans to donate some BTC worth $1 million.

Tom Brady

Brady took an equity stake to begin receiving payment in crypto and as a brand ambassador for Sam Bankman-Fried's exchange. This iconic footballer launched Autograph in April 2022, his own NFT platform, to attract top talent in entertainment, sports, pop culture and fashion.

Brady gave a fan 1 BTC when he passed his career's 600th touchdown to mark the NFL's all-time high and secured a spot as the best touchdown passer of all time. This was for receiving the ball from the receiver to complete the touchdown. Bitcoin was valued at about $62,000 by the time of the game, and the famous ball may be worth over $500,000 at auctions today.

Odell Beckham Jr

Beckham followed in Rodger's footsteps and partnered with Cash App to receive his salary in Bitcoin. The wide receiver from the Los Angeles Ram revealed that he'd donate Bitcoin worth $1 million as part of the partnership.

Trevor Lawrence

The start quarterback from Carolina Panthers joined other NFL stars to accept crypto payments. Lawrence has an endorsement deal with FTX, a crypto portfolio app, with a substantial bonus amount directly deposited into his FTX account.

Saquon Barkley

The running back from NY Giants started converting his payments from endorsements into Bitcoin. He doesn't get paid directly in Bitcoin but swaps some of his earnings. Barkley uses the Strike payment app to purchase BTC.

Sean Culkin

The tight end from Kansas City Chiefs revealed plans to begin getting his income from the NFL in crypto. Culkin was to swap 100% of his salary into crypto, unlike others on the list. He believed it was the right thing to do, given the nature of his job which involves taking risks. Crypto has the potential to grow over time but also has the potential risk of plummeting.
