How to spot casino cheaters

Unless someone is recognized by sight, casino security are always going to be interested - although not in an obvious way - in the high rollers

Most people go to a casino to play fairly and properly. Whichever game they happen to enjoy the most, from blackjack to roulette, from poker to slot games, they will pay their money and take their chances, hoping that their knowledge of the games they are playing, plus a little bit of Lady Luck, will help them to do well.

And then there are those who don't play this way. These are the casino cheaters, the ones who think they should be able to beat the house every time and win (steal, in effect) as much as possible. It is useful to be able to spot these cheaters in a casino like Thor Slots; they make the entire game much more unfair, and could even be stealing money you should rightfully have won, so seeing them and reporting them is a good idea. Of course, casino security already has their own methods, including some of the ones we'll talk about below, so hopefully they will be noticed quickly.

Are They Really High Rollers?

Unless someone is recognized by sight, casino security are always going to be interested - although not in an obvious way - in the high rollers. Most are genuine and they have plenty of money to spend on their favourite games. Some, however, are fake, pretending to be high rollers but really they are card cheats.

One way to spot them is to see what happens when they lose (fake high rollers will need to make a loss once in a while to show that they are genuine!). Are they making big bets most of the time - and winning - and only losing when they make smaller bets? This is sure sign something is up.

Distracting The Dealer

The rule is that the dealers should never be touched - and there is never any need to touch them. However, a casino cheat will often try to distract the dealer by touching their arm or hand, or by leaning in much closer than they need to. In the split second that the dealer is distracted, the cheat can take their opportunity to do whatever it is they need to do. Cards could be swapped, for example, and no one would be able to see.

Card Counting

People who carry out card counting have had a lot of practice in it. It's a 'skill' that takes time to master, and although it's not cheating exactly, it will give you an edge when it comes to blackjack, for example. For this reason, it is banned in most casinos. Yet how can someone know that someone else is counting cards? Surely it's not noticeable?

In essence that is correct - it's not something you can spot just by passing by someone who is playing. But if you watch them over time, a pattern will start to emerge. For those in the know, such as those who work as casino security, the signs will be obvious.

Leaving A Big Tip

Leaving a big tip can be a sign of a generous spirit, but it might also be a sign of a cheat. If someone feels that suspicions are being aroused from the dealer they are playing with, a tactic is often to leave a big tip. The idea behind this is that dealers are much less likely to report someone who is offering them a lot of money.

Hopefully, though, dealers will see through this ruse and if they have suspicions they will report them anyway.
