How to Plan a Casino Night With Friends

By: Fabio | Posted in: Gambling | Published: 2/18/2020

A casino night is a fun way to bring friends together with friends and family to enjoy competitive games or games of chance with money on the line

In this age where we communicate so much more via text or online, it's sometimes really difficult to get a group of friends together. It feels like we're in each other's pockets all the time, but we actually see each other face to face far less often. One great excuse to get your nearest and dearest together is hosting a casino night. Here are some tips to get everybody on board and ensure your casino party is one to remember.

Is There a Dress Code?

If your friendship group are a bunch of fashionistas, then one promise that's sure to get them out of the house is the promise of a fancy new outfit. A dress code is a brilliant way to build anticipation for your event and make sure that everybody is in the mood when the day rolls around. There are plenty of different ways you could go with this, but some popular ideas are as follows.

A Casino Royale dress code is just the ticket if you want to really push the boat out and see everybody in their best suits and cocktail gowns; this one also lends itself to an entirely themed evening, but more on that later. What with the roll around of 2020, the fashion for Great Gatsby themed parties has seen an enormous revival. Flapper dresses, tuxedos and opulence are the name of the game here. One final theme to consider could be 'come as a character from your favourite casino movie'. This option allows people to have fun guessing which films people have come dressed from and gives a bit of variation to the whole evening.

Decide on Your Games

Your DIY wheel might not be as flashy as this one, but it'll be made with love

Having a selection of at least three games is a good idea, usually a card game, such as knock out poker, a table game such as roulette and one other is a good place to start. In this way, everyone has something they can be playing, but nobody is going to struggle to make it around all of the options. If you've got a little bit of cash to splash then it can be pretty special to hire yourself a croupier for the night. If, on the other hand, you're planning this party on a small budget then making games yourself is a great way to save money and inject some personality into your evening.

Roulette is a surprisingly simple game to put together by yourself, but if you're daunted by the prospect then you can always use an online site for help. Internet offers plenty of options for those who aren't big DIY-ers, including the classics like high & low stake and themed games, which are perfect for keeping the mood light and fun. Even if you do end up making your own board, you can always keep a site up on the computer in the background, as it can be fun if you want to play with people other than just your friends. Anyway, for those who fancy a go at some crafting, here's how to make your own board.

You'll need to gather together a thick piece of cardboard for the base, a thin piece of card for the spinner, a split pin, some scissors and paint and brushes if you're feeling creative. Start by cutting an arrow out of the thin card and centring it on the middle of the cardboard base. Push your split pin through both the spinner and the base and open the legs to secure. Next you're going to section the board into numbers; if you'd like to keep it traditional then you'll need to make 36 sections, but if you're feeling lazy then even 12 will do! Paint up your board with numbers, red and black squares (and other details if you feel inclined) and you're ready to spin!

Create an Ambience

With a fun group of friends, this part often comes naturally, but to get the mood going right from the start it's a good idea to make a few plans. Find a playlist, maybe one that relates to your dress theme, and make sure to get that playing for when people arrive. Your playlist could include great casino movie soundtracks, or it might just be jazz from the 1920's - that's up to you! It's also always a good idea to have some snacks ready, especially if people will be drinking. Whether you go all out with canapes or just provide crisps, nuts and maybe a pizza, people will be glad of it as the hours roll past.
